OPERATION HYDRA by Cyndi Friberg

Krysta and her twin sister, Belle, have been raised from birth in a compound that studies what they have been raised to believe are genetic abnormalities that spark psychic abilities.  She’s been tortured, trained, and all she knows is rage at her captor who has never been able to break her.  When a man named Trey comes to Dr. Hydran wanting to purchase her healing abilities, she is attracted to him.  Unfortunately, this is just what Dr. Hydran has been looking for, another way to control Krysta besides using her twin sister.

Trey is here for an undercover mission to rescue the Queens Twin sister Krystabel.  Queen Charlotte has felt her sister mentally for a long time, and is insisting that she is in trouble and needs to be rescued.  Prepared only to rescue Krystabel, he finds her twin daughter's Krysta and Belle instead, along with more people than he dreamed. What he discovers going on at the compound enrages him, and he has to struggle to stick to his disguise.  They had no idea that there were over 200 of his people being held at the compound to study their abilities.  Now he’s got to get Krystabel’s daughter, Krysta to trust him, so he can gain her help to rescue them all.

I really liked Krysta because she was strong and sometimes unyielding, and harbored a lot of rage.  Even so, she was still considered a leader who people turned to in times of need at the compound. When she meets Trey, the fireworks begin, but she doesn’t just fall at his feet in defeat, she fights him all the way.  Trey is a great hero, noble and willing to do what it takes to do the job he was sent to do and then some. The passion and love between these two people are what really makes this book sizzle.   There was a lot going on in this story, and I sometimes had to go back and read a passage again to make sure I didn’t miss anything. If you like a lot of action and strong heroines give Ontarian Chronicles 2: Operation Hydra a try, you won’t be disappointed.
