HONEYMOON SUITE by Lynn Michaels

When a crooked relative absconds with millions of dollars, the aristocratic and wealthy Lambert family is split apart. The Lambert parents become fugitives from justice while their daughters - flighty but beautiful Jilly and younger but much more reliable Dory - are left behind to hold up the teetering fortress of their crumbling fortune, with some much needed support from their steely but aging Aunt Ping.

Armed with an MBA and a determination not to lose their ancestral manor like they’ve lost everything else, savvy young Dory struggles, plans and plots to keep them financially afloat. Just as it seems nothing more could go wrong, Chase McKay, the chauffeur’s prodigal son returns. Now even more wealthy than the Lamberts in their heyday, Chase once again falls under beautiful Jilly’s spell and doesn’t even realize that Dory’s the one who’s always loved him. How it all gets resolved constitutes the rest of downright uproarious novel.

With snooty guests, young daredevils, interfering relatives, loyal servants, snooping FBI agents and a villain or two all jumping in and out of the plot, this is one zany story that’s guaranteed to keep the readers entertained from the first page to the last. It’s to author Lynn Michaels’ credit that she’s created a story that’s outright engaging and feels light-hearted but conceals many serious topics under the humorous aura. The ups and downs of Dory’s personal life can’t help but strike a chord with many readers and even the side characters get their share of the limelight. Stubborn and self-absorbed Chase McKay is initially far from a hero and will surely incur the wrath of the readers. The plot twists, turns and loops back on itself until the readers are left dazed but happy. Overall heartwarming, side-splittingly funny and intelligent, this book is a well-deserved treat for the senses.
