Mary Elisabeth Davis is widowed from a controlling husband, but she still lives by his rules. She sends a letter to an old friend, making arrangements to meet him in Paris on Christmas Eve.
Jean-Marc David has never forgotten his time in Paris with the young Mary, but he isn't sure whether he should meet her now. Too many years and too much living separate them from the people they were when they were together.
Mary's daughter, Liz, doesn't understand this change in her mother. Her fiance tries to help her come to grips with what is happening.
This book is a wonderful excursion through the beauty of Paris. The deep characterizations help the reader come to care for the characters as if they were close friends. The journey to understanding is often rocky, but I believe the reader will enjoy the trip.
