Regina Moore thought her life couldn’t be better. She is married to a successful businessman, has her dream house, owns three cars, and has a fantastic career. But when she discovers a woman’s phone number in her husband’s shorts while doing laundry one day, her perfect world comes tumbling down.
Karen Jackson’s husband wouldn’t dream of having an affair with another woman—he’s madly in love with Karen. But he has a gambling problem, losing his entire paycheck at the tracks every week. Now he’s started to steal money from their savings. Karen has to keep up with her best friend, Regina, and she can’t afford to on her income alone.
Now Karen and Regina are facing decisions they never thought they’d have to make. Is Regina’s husband really having an affair—or is it a simple misunderstanding? Will Karen’s husband realize he has a gambling problem and seek help before it’s too late?
BEHIND CLOSED DOORS is an African/American chick lit about successful businesswomen whose lives are falling apart. I couldn’t really relate to them—the amount of income the women made in the book were stuff of dreams for the average American—and it was unbelievable that they couldn’t make ends meet with so much money coming in.
If you are looking for a good chick lit, you might want to look further than
BEHIND CLOSED DOORS. It’s a depressing book, lacking much of the funny
sarcasm one expects in chick lit, and nothing is resolved in the book.
