STORM GATHERING by Rene Gutteridge

Storm Gathering begins with the straw the broke the camel’s back. A mild mannered lady, used to being pushed around, is pushed too far. When she snaps, she sets into motion a series of events that threaten to send an innocent man to jail for life.
Mick has spent his life looking for trouble and he’s found plenty of it. But this time it’s more than he can handle when he wakes up, hung over, in the apartment of a woman who has been reported missing. All the evidence points to murder and Mick is the prime suspect. His older brother Aaron is a cop. Mick has always resented the perfect big brother, and when Aaron begins dating one of Mick’s discarded girlfriends, Mick suddenly decides Aaron stole her from him and uses that for an excuse to cut off all ties with Aaron.

Now Mick is fighting for his life and he turns to Aaron for help. Aaron is treading on very thin ice as he snoops around the edges of the investigation on his own. But Aaron can’t let his brother pay for a crime he didn’t commit, so Aaron breaks the rules for the first time in his life.

Rene Gutteridge has a special place in my heart. She is simply an author I trust. Whatever she writes, I’ll read. I ‘discovered’ her just a year ago and since them I’ve read a novel about a troubled marriage, two murder mysteries and two comedies. They were all great. Gutteridge just has that special touch for writing characters you care about and dragging you into a story and holding you there. Storm Gathering has romantic elements, with Aaron and his fiancé but it doesn’t strictly rate as a romance. The first book in this series The Splitting Storm is, as are her other books. This one is a thriller and you’re going to love every second of the rollercoaster ride.
