Young prince Hezekiah lay in his palace room he shares with his older brother, Eliab, when soldiers of the King storm into the room, grab the frightened boys, and march them to an evil place of sacrifice. Their mother, Abijah is helpless to save them although she strives to be the best mother and wife she can.
There is only real God, and to find the way to Him is often rough. Hezekiah had a good mother, but his father was evil, and his tutor refused to acknowledge the spiritual side of life. Hezekiah’s grandfather, however, is the first tutor Hezekiah has and lays the foundation for a faith filled walk with the one true God. When Hezekiah’s journey to salvation is left in the hands of mere men, he is led through a maze of violence, false gods, unfaithful men and pure evil. Does Hezekiah have the intestinal fortitude and the wisdom to make it? When everything is ripped away from him, how will he respond/?
It’s a time of false gods prevailing and every manner of evil rising; God’s chosen must prevail, but is it too late and who will be the one to stand?
This is a rewritten/repackaged release. I did not read the original but this one is superbly written and completely captivating. The setting is a historical treat; the characters are as if they walk beside us, the story – timeless. I believe this book will be a welcome addition to any library. The peek into Old Testament life is enough to make it a keeper, but the intriguing story is like the star atop the tree.
A must read for lovers of suspense/mystery/history.
