In New York City Police Officers call 42nd St, “the Deuce.”
NYPD cop Tony Cavalucci fights evil every day of his life. Not just on the midnight shift patrolling ‘the Duece,’where the perps seems to be increasing (not just in numbers but in the amount of violence) but in his personal life where dysfunctionality reigns. His family is falling apart, his stressful job drains any reserve of sanity he might have. Tony’s escape into the world of alcohol unleashes the demons that prove to be merciless.
When Tony’s partner is injured and Tony is assigned a new one, he is hesitant to accept the new guy. He seems okay but can Tony trust him? Will he be a stand up guy or will Tony be left alone in the darkness lurking around the Deuce? Rumors surround the new guy and Tony can’t take a chance, but he may have no choice.
Just when things look not so good God makes a presence that could change Tony’s life forever.
I enjoy crime stories and this is a private sort of glimpse into the NYPD. Tony’s personal life is a mess and I wanted so badly to shake him and wake him up from his drunken stupor.
The faith message is pretty strong and how the author brings Tony to see the light is well done. If you like reality where the only answer to any sort of sane life in the midst of societies gritty madness, is Jesus, then you will certainly enjoy this book.
