WOMAN ON THE RUN by Lisa Marie Rice

Julia Devaux is entering the witness protection program under the name of Sally Anderson. Sally is very different from Julia and will be sent to Simpson, Idaho to will be a school teacher. Julia is not happy about her assignment, but she wants to stay alive so she has little choice. Julia was a witness to a murder and now the killer, Dominic Santana, has put out a hit on her. Simpson, Idaho is quiet and it doesn’t take Julia long to become a part of this welcoming community. When she notices Raphel Martinez a small boy in her class becoming sadder and sadder by the day, Julia realizes she must speak to his parents.

Former Navy Seal Sam Cooper is looking for little Raphel’s teacher. Since Benaldo, Raphel’s father and Sam’s best friend and foreman, was in no condition to talk and his mother walked out on the family, Sam was the logical choice to speak with Miss Anderson. Coop can’t believe the attraction he feels towards Sally Anderson, he hasn’t been really aroused in over a year, but Sally definitely has his attention. His intentions are to get next to her as soon as possible and the intensity Coop feels during their first sexual encounter is riveting. Sally/Julia feels a connection with Coop. His strength draws her and since she fears for her life, Coop provides the security she needs.

Overall WOMAN ON THE RUN has an interesting and intriguing storyline. The secondary characters are fascinating and bring the story to life. I did get a little confused at times and I felt like the suspense part was cleaned up a little too neatly, but I can easily recommend it for someone looking for a spicy, yet intense read.
