Rebecca Alexander, talented costume designer, chose to expand her business by use of the internet. A willing friend helped her design a site. A site which drew a stalker into Rebecca’s life and ended her friend’s life. Now she’s forced to flee or die.
Rebecca dons a disguise and leaves the West coast. She finds the small town of Shadow Lake and re-invents herself into Ellie Baker, waitress. She’s content to live a quiet life although forced to keep on the lookout for danger. Her only ties to her former life are her cell phone and a pistol.
Jace Monroe travels to his cabin at Shadow Lake to recover from a mountain climbing accident. Tired of his own cooking, he wanders into the café. An emerald-eyed waitress takes his order and steals his heart. He is insistent with his pursuit of the elusive Ellie and she finally allows him to befriend her. However, Jace reads between the lines and knows Ellie’s hiding something.
The stalker traces Rebecca to Shadow Lake only to discover she’s seeing Jace. Disgusted, the stalker knows the game must end. He’s out to kill Jace and kidnap Rebecca. Will the shadows at the lake be dark enough for him to operate in?
Tess Maynard has woven a story of danger and intrigue. Her sensual scenes of two lovers warming to one another add a patina to her work. This is a page-turner, one hard to put down.
