Two men become tangled in a web of deceit when their annual fishing trip is interrupted by a young girl. Cindy Garvey’s suicide becomes a point of change for Hal Bonnacker and Pete Engstrom.
Unable to forget what they know, each man wrestles his own demons. Little do they know the encounter at the lake was a part of Luke Downing’s scheme, which went awry.
Sinister, evil Luke Downing has a hidden agenda when he uses Cindy Garvey. Both he and Bruce Orum have lurid pasts they want to escape. Downing saw the fishermen as a way to gain money. However, Cindy’s death changed the plan.
Bonnacker and Engstrom struggle with the events that transpired. They decide a return to the scene of the accident, Garner Lake,
in hopes that being there will drown out the voices which drive them. With their wives along, the men once again travel into the spider’s web. Downing plans to end the charade this time. Will Garner Lake once again become a burial ground?
Author Hank Kellner has woven a story of sex, lies, and danger. Cheating and subterfuge touch each character. This is a sad adult tale of the lack of morality within mankind. Several sensual scenes are present. The prevalent unhappiness of two marriages leaves its own distinct flavor.
