In Shelby Reed’s, MIDNIGHT ROSE, a woman
is drawn to a man with many secrets to hide some that can mean the
difference
between life and death.
Kate
O’Brien’s
new position as a teacher to an ill thirteen-year-old boy brings more
than she
bargained for. From her first day on the job, Kate is uneasy with her
surroundings. Although something about Sister Oaks doesn’t seem right,
Kate is
compelled to stay. When she meets her new employer devastatingly
handsome,
Gideon Renaud, Kate is baffled at her intense reaction to him. Her
bafflement
quickly turns to amazement as she meets Jude Renaud, her
thirteen-year-old
charge that seems much more mature than his age would suggest. Will
Kate find
out the secrets at Sister Oaks?
Gideon
Renaud feels he has a lot of sins to atone for. His choice of many
decades
before made him a vampire. The shadows around him have hurt everyone he
loves
around him. His son is sick but he is afraid to tell him the truth. Now
the
teacher Kate O’Brien makes him feels things he hasn’t in decades.
Things that
can either kill him or redeem him. Can a man who is running from his
nature
find redemption with a woman he is afraid to tell the truth to?
MIDNIGHT
ROSE has so many secrets, heated foreplay and soul
stirring scenes it is a one sitting read. The characters Kate and
Gideon are
engaging and vibrant jumping off the page. Kate has a big heart and
makes you
want to be her friend. While Gideon, who is tender one moment, then
brutal the
next, takes your breath away with his complex nature. The combination
of these
two brings out all kinds of emotions. The chemistry between Kate and
Gideon
from their first glimpse of each other, then finally to their first
meeting and
on, keeps growing until you fan yourself and say, “is it hot in here”.
The
other sub character’s, Jude the thirteen-year-old who is far beyond
thirteen
and Martha Shelton the secretary/conscious, rounds out the novel and
brings the
reader deeper into the novel.
I highly
recommend Shelby Reed’s, MIDNIGHT
ROSE for readers who enjoy a little mystery offset by hot sex and a
story that
is as engaging, as it is intense.
