Cade Calhoun is a trauma surgeon who has a serious case of the hots for Margaret Berman. Margaret is a surgery resident, and a beauty. Cade has come onto her in the past, and she has always rebuffed his advances. Then to his shock she gives him a kiss like she’s starving for him. He decides to try one more time, and if he’s shot down again, that will be it. To his surprise and pleasure, Maggie accepts.
Maggie has been a sub without a master for too long. As a surgeon, she has to watch her reputation. And she is fearful that Cade could steal her heart if she’s not careful, because he is the master of her dreams. Tender, yet stern, commanding yet loving, he fulfills all her desires. But she isn’t sure she can handle being his slave at home, and his equal at work.
How Cade and Maggie explore and set the boundaries of their relationship is done in a sensitive fashion. This is a quickie novella that was too short for this reader. Ann Jacobs has shown that brutality is not necessary to have in a BDSM relationship. It was a refreshing change. There are scenes of violence and reference to a former sadistic master, but overall the tone is loving and romantic.
