Elena Beckett is a thief. She insinuates herself into the parties of the rich and searches them for hidden safes or easily obtained baubles. Her partner in crime, James has access to the combinations of safes installed by a particular company, and gives them to Elena so she can burglarize the house.
James London is a successful businessman who catches Elena in the act. He's a dominant man, currently between subs, and offers Elena the choice between the police and being his sex slave for a week.
When Elena consents to the bargain, she gets way more than she expected, and so does James. The interaction between the initially sassy Elena and the very stern James is intriguing.
Claire Thompson explores how an independent, self-reliant woman can be introduced to the pleasure of BDSM. Elena's thought processes are well expressed, and her reason for agreeing to the bargain is understandable. The author includes several incidents that could be disturbing to some readers, however they are not out of context for the story.
