FALLING FOR YOU by Kathryn Quick

Falling for You is the charming story of a single mom, Stephanie Thomas and an ex-NHL star, Martin St. Claire. They meet when Stephanie tries to ice skate at Marty’s rink, and ends up falling flat on her back, knocking herself out. Her 15 year old son, Mike is mortified, as his hockey team is expected any moment. Marty insists that Stephanie get checked at the hospital, since her ankle is injured as well.

Marty is a wealthy man with a beautiful home and several model ex-girlfriends hanging around. He’s tired of the fake lifestyle he’s been involved in. He’s gorgeously handsome, runs his own skating rink, and coaches teenagers. He finds Stephanie amazingly attractive. He pursues her to his own surprise. Marty hadn’t thought about dating a woman with a child, but Stephanie is worth the work.

Stephanie has been raising Mike alone, and isn’t sure she wants to risk having any interference. She’s working full time and doing her best to be sure Mike is raised right. She fears that dating Marty could give Mike ideas, plus Mike has already indicated his resentment that Stephanie is receiving attention from Marty. Her relationship with Mike is already strained thanks to adolescence. When Stephanie finds out just how famous Marty is, she figures that he’s just playing games with her. After all, why would a guy who was on the cover of GQ magazine want to be with her?

Kathryn Quick draws the reader in from the beginning, and keeps the plot moving along. Marty is not the typical playboy, and finds himself wanting to settle down with Stephanie. But he has to convince Stephanie first. Stephanie has to figure out that she has qualities that attract Marty that have nothing to do with looking like a model. I read this book from start to finish in one sitting. I loved it, and look forward to reading more of Kathryn Quick’s writing. This book should not be missed.
