While Alexander Ellison’s life hadn’t been perfect, it had still been one filled with wealth and a loving, yet sometimes overbearing mother. So when his mother calls with a “hair” emergency he “volunteeres” to bring her hairdresser, Gayle, out to his mother’s ranch. His first glimpse of Gayle Gentry puts him in his own imagined slow motion vision, equipped with the ray of light and angels singing in the background. She sets his body on fire and he’s determined to get her in his bed at any cost.
Gayle Gentry is a single mother of two teens, ex-wife of a drunk with no brain cells left, and overall go-to girl for her friends and family. When she gets the call from Alex asking her to handle his mother’s “emergency”, she can’t say no as the extra money will be welcome. Her attraction to Alex is immediate but once she sees the wealth and pomp that is Alex’s life, she knows there could never be anything substantial between them.
Their magnetic attraction will not be denied however, and Alex and Gayle begin a rocky affair filled with passionate nights and reality-filled days. Between rebelling teens and her irresponsible ex-husband, Gayle finds it hard to accept that the affair with Alex will lead to anything more than heartache. Alex is determined to prove that his age and wealth have no bearing on their passion. Bombarded by the reality of their two different worlds, will Alex and Gayle ever find their WORLD APART?
A WORLD APART is a story that shows love can bridge any gap, be it money or age. Gayle Gentry is a very real character with true to life emotions and circumstances that strive to get in the way of true love. Alex, while on the outside may seem more the “boy toy” type of guy, is a man struggling with his place in the world and his intense need for one woman, Gayle. Barri Bryan peppered the book with colorful secondary characters that add depth and even humor to this “Romeo and Juliet” slanted tale. A WORLD APART may be fiction, but its message still holds true. Love is a world all its own.
