WHOLE LOTTA TROUBLE by Stephanie Bond

Three friends who’ve known each other for ages. Or do they know each other? When a common thread in their lives, slimeball agent Jerry Key, turns up dead in an apparent sex/hate crime, they begin to wonder just how well they really know each other.

Tallie Blankenship is a small town girl working in the Manhattan publishing world. She’s given up a personal life to make it in her dream job and has finally landed a high profile author to work with. But the job that should jump-start her career grinds to a halt when Jerry Key throws a wrench into the works.

Felicia Redmon is an editor living the high life. She’s been in love with Jerry Key since they started, and finished, their affair. But when she’s betrayed in a most personal way, and her assumption that Jerry is responsible puts him on her hit list.

Jané Glass is an ebook editor who also has a link to Jerry Key. He steals the work of one of her authors, making her furious.

Ok, so the girls might have seen Jerry the night he died. They might have also fantasized about killing him. But while they each know they didn’t kill Jerry, the police aren’t so convinced. It’s going to take gorgeous cop Keith Wages, sexy courier Jack Gaylon and all the evidence the girls can muster to get them out of this, and hopefully into the arms of their dream men.

Stephanie Bond has long been an auto-read for me, and I always enjoy her humour, characters and easy readability. WHOLE LOTTA TROUBLE is an enjoyable book too, but I felt a bit disappointed with the lack of time spent with each of these wonderful ladies due to the number of characters. Tallie was really the main, and her storyline was the most developed, but Felicia really was quite shallow until deep into the story, and I was desperate to get to know her better.

Despite a bit of a thrown-together ending and a rushed finish to the romantic story lines, readers are going to enjoy this book. It offers a bit of everything, which is probably some of the problem, as it doesn’t really satisfy completely as a suspense or a romance, but for a light, don’t-take-me-too-seriously book, it’s worth the time.
