Lillie is the larger-than-life-take-the-bull-by-the-horns-you-only-live-once-heroine who earns the name Tiger (Lillie) in a cool sort of way. Holding onto the feelings of first love Teddy who suddenly disappears after graduation may prevent her from finding real love, or does it? Lillie has a good group of friends who support her efforts to open a niche business. Her father, although ailing, has always been her hero, while her mother was closer to younger sister, Tacy.
Tacy is married to handsome, successful, Christian businessman. With a beautiful house, nice car, expensive jewelry, it seems Tacy has it all. But, Lillie’s sister sense tells her something is not right in Tacy’s household. Tacy was once a strong willed person who loved the Lord and life, but wouldn’t bow to any man. That’s all changed. Why?
Lillie does all she can to help her sister and run the new business. Her character’s growth is steady and strong but we feel the pain of no love, lost love, and distant love. Tiger Lillie is novel of hope, though.
This is the first Lisa Sampson book I’ve ever read and it is awesome. I give it the Reviewers Choice Award for Road to Romance. The book is fast paced, quirky, and full of everything we want as readers. Additionally the way she joins Tacy’s story with Lillie’s is unusual and very effective at keeping those pages turning. The plot truly is winding and rolling and like dropping of the edge of a very tall bridge with only bungees tied to your ankles! A must read! Highly recommended! (I know it’s bad form to use! but it’s how I feel about Tiger Lillie!)
