William Dunford one of London's most eligible bachelors had not planned on the events that would change his life in such a profound way. Upon learning he had inherited an estate in Cornwall the new Lord of Stannage was not prepared for what lay ahead.

Henrietta Barrett had lived at Stannage since she was eight after the death of both her parents. She came to live with the Baron and his wife Viola who was a distant cousin of Henrietta'a grandmother. The young girl had come to live the estate and for the past eight years after the death of Viola she had taken on running the entire estate. Upon the Baron's death she saw no reason for this to change. Unlike most young ladies her age Henry - how she preferred to be called - was at home in breeches instead of frocks and prefers to be working the land than out to balls. More like a young lad than the woman she was hiding under those clothes.

Her first impression of the new Lord of Stannage was he was the handsomest man she had ever seen yet somehow he found her more of a young child. The more he stayed at the estate the more he wanted to change this tomboy into a lady and present her in London with the hopes of finding her a husband and he would be free of his newly acquired ward. But the transformation was not only a success the rough diamond was truly a fine lady and not only had all of London seeking her attention but the handsome Dunford himself.

An interesting twist that has all the romance of My Fair Lady with and original plot that takes the reader back to the time of Lords and Ladies and the plush of London Society. I was intrigued by Henry's character and though one might feel the story is about her I find myself feeling it is more about Dunford. I leave it up to you that readers to decide, but either way it is a wonderful romance.
