Taite is a rebel, drawn to body piercing and tattoos. When she discovers she’s pregnant she ventures ‘home’ to her grandmother Naiane, to the only place she’s ever really felt safe. Except when she’s with Sam. But, a fight has split the couple and Sam is in Medical School unaware Taite carries his baby. She refuses to tell him because she won’t ruin the long dreamed of his that are coming to fruition. While Sam concentrates on stem cell research, Taite concentrates on getting an abortion.
Naiane knows the answer to her granddaughter’s dilemma. And, that answer lies not in the hands of an abortionist, but rather in the hands of Jesus. Taite seems angry and restless and takes refuge in the old Kingswell cabin only coming to town when necessary. Naiane is also a storyteller. A talent or gift passed along through generations. She spins her tales whenever Taite seems receptive praying the story will touch the young woman’s heart.
The second story-line is intriguing, too. Listening to Naiane’s Welsh tales full of faith, love, courage, and hope, is inspiring. In addition, Naiane has vivid visions and dreams. Could they come true?
Weaving medieval tales with contemporary story proves Ms. Nobles excellent writing skill. The subtle faith message shows us that even in the darkest times the light of God will lead us home to safety.
I recommend The Last Story Teller for a different sort of love story
