Meet Lucy,
pretty, but a tad overweight from the size zero that she longs to wear.
Don’t
feel sorry for her though, she has men and she has adventures. She even
has a
steady boyfriend, Robert Redford, who loves her dearly.
Lucy seems to have an
obsession with inanimate objects that goes well with the
loneliness that at most times engulfs her. Even Robert Redford can’t
rescue her
from her own devices. But all that is about to change…
Older now, Lucy, in
desperate need of some new clothes heads to the mall, armed
with coupons for the Midnight Madness Sale. A sale she will not forget
any too
soon. "Sometimes you have to make sacrifices, live in the present
rather
than the past", she is told in her chance meeting with the immortal
James
Dean. Lucy is about to find out just what wishful thinking can do,
leaving her
a changed girl forever.
Beatrice Brooks have
woven an enchanting and sometimes chilling tale of the
magnitude that is our self-image; sometimes our friend, sometimes a
monster
lurking in the shadows, threatening to swallow us whole, but never
without
repercussion. This story is told with a clever play on words, without
becoming
contrite. Masterfully told, you will never look at a Midnight Madness
Sale in
the same way again! Spellbinding!
