Betsy
Tremaine enjoys writing her book reviews. Lately though, she doesn’t
enjoy them
nearly as much. Ever since she started reviewing J. Soldier McKennitt’s
horrid
novels, she has acquired a stalker. Having a severe case of denial and
an
aversion to the crime novels that Soldier pens, she takes off for a
writer’s
conference. What she doesn’t know though, is that her stalker isn’t
about to
let her get away. Betsy’s life is in danger and who should be the only
one that
can save her, why Soldier of course! How was she to know that Soldier
isn’t a
stuffy old codger, but a gorgeous blue-eyed rake that makes her heart
do
back-flips? She couldn’t have picked a more perfect protector, except
that he
is so imperfect for her. Can the man whose books she demolishes with
her
reviews, be the perfect man for her? Obviously not, but Betsy is hoping
for the
chance to find out…
Soldier
can’t believe it when he keeps receiving these nasty book reviews from
a Betsy
Tremaine! His books have been on the National Bestseller List. How can
she hate
them so much? He is certain that she is a nasty old woman who gets her
kicks
out of writing scathing reviews. Well, he couldn’t be more wrong! When
he
encounters her at a writer’s conference, he is instantly attracted to
her. When
he finds out that she needs a protector from a stalker, it is too
perfect of an
opportunity. He is a detective after all, who better to keep her safe?
And what
better excuse to get close to her than having to watch her day and
night?
Soldier
wants Betsy. Betsy wants Soldier. But they couldn’t be more mismatched.
Is
there any hope for this pair?
THE DAMSEL
IN THIS DRESS is laugh-out-loud funny! Ms. Stillings creates amusing
dialogue
and witty characters that the reader has no choice but to fall in love
with.
Betsy is an eccentric book reviewer who can’t believe that she would
warrant
the attention of a stalker. Soldier is the detective who assigns
himself to her
case. Behind closed doors and in close quarters, they have no choice
but to
admit that they desire each other. Ms. Stillings pens a novel that is
funny,
quirky, sexy and a tad bit suspenseful. A crazy stalker, a voluptuous
beauty
and a dashing detective make for a fun mix. Oh yeah, and don’t forget
Piddles,
the Chihuahua
who absolutely lives up to his name.
