Just in time for the best season of all, (Christmas of course!) comes this wonderful tale of unconditional love.
Honor McCall is desperate to escape her cruel uncle’s lewd advances. She desperately needs and wants a new life. A fresh start. She steals away when Uncle Lucas is passed out and heads for the closest town. Her Aunt – a God fearing Christian would have advised Honor to follow God no matter what, but Honors faith is, well, shaky. When she boards a stagecoach Pastor Jeth Peters climbs aboard, too. His easy manner is attractive to her, but Honor trusts no-one. Besides, one day into her ‘fresh start’ she’s already done something shameful.
Jeth Peters likes Honor. But, his initial concern is for her soul. She’s timid, suspicious and has no laugh lines; as if she hasn’t smiled in a long time, if ever. He’s determined to minister to her, but he has no way of knowing the lengths God would have him involved in Honor’s life.
Circumstance takes the couple through many incidents. At times Honor seems on the brink of trusting and then she remembers her ‘deed’ and backs away. The people at church take a shine to her but Honor can’t forgive herself. She is suspicious of every little thing that happens and is sure her Uncle is hot on her trail.
God has great things in store for Honor and Jeth and it’s a great treat to watch the two find trust, love, and hope in one another.
The Winter Pearl is a sweet story of forgiveness, trust and God’s ultimate love for each of us. It is a welcome addition to the season of love (Christmas) books and will make a wonderful gift as well.
