A deadly
pack of female pirates, lead by Sonja, have their eye on a big bounty.
In need
of an energizer, these lady pirates watch the Daamen ship transporting
it to a
new destination. The energizer is worth
a lot on the black market and the pirates plan to cash in on the
profit. In the
dead of night they steal the energizer and kill many in their path. As
there is
now a price on each of their heads, the pirates stow away onboard the
Daamen
ship. Never one to sit back and relax or be traded off when they are
loaded
onto a trading vessel, Sonja and comrades take control of the Daamen
ship while
the men are sleeping. Sonja will do whatever it takes to stay alive and
keep
her comrades together. But Sonja has never come up against a Daamen
like Red
before…
Red is
usually never taken by surprise. But when the ship he is Captain of is
hijacked, he is determined to exact his revenge on his enemy. Only Red
never
expected the leader of these pirates to be a raven-haired lass who he
plans to
seduce and take back the control of his ship. But Red underestimates
Sonja, who
doesn’t bend to his charm or come-ons. He wants her, even comes to
admire her
strength and leadership qualities. But Red sees more beneath the
surface that
Sonja doesn’t want to show.
Can Red
show Sonja his desire for her is real? Can the Daamen take control once
again?
He’s here!
Finally, after six wonderful predecessor’s and titillating hints,
readers (I)
am blessed with Red, the charming Daamen trader I fell for in book one
of this
series. Heart of the Forsaken
is rich with fascinating characters, action, twists and a world that
readers
are drawn to again and again by Angela Verdenius. With
a less tension-filled air about it, as
with some of the previous stories, Heart
of the Forsaken is rife with humour, charm and emotions. One of
the
best things about this series is that the books do not have to be read
in order
to understand the world or the characters. (Though read in order is the
absolute best experience!) The author
writes stand-alone stories that are a part of the Heart
& Soul series, but each one has its own strong identity
for new readers to enjoy.
Red was
everything I hoped he would be and so much more. Sonja is a lucky lady
to fall
for Red, and she was an amazing character to watch.
This is another hit in the Heart &
Soul series. Heart of the Forsaken is one
of
the top three best stories in this series.
Highly
remembered and highly recommended.
Watch for
book 8 – Soul of a Witch, to
