Kristine Granger feels responsible for her sister’s untimely death due to a drug overdose, so she’s devoted her life to the prosecutor’s office and to putting criminals behind bars. She’s been assigned a case prosecuting a drug dealer. Little does she know, but famed defense attorney Tony Landry will be representing the defendant. Kristine isn’t prepared for the desire Tony causes her to feel with just one look. Kristine wants nothing to do with someone who defends criminals and keeps them on the streets, but Tony somehow seems different.
Tony Landry was raised in foster homes after his father murdered a man and was sent to prison. He can’t quite overcome the shame that he’s felt ever since. When he sees Kristine Granger in the courtroom, he wants her…badly. Then after he wins the case, Kristine walks out in front of his car and he almost runs over her. Kristine is shaken up and Tony takes her to the ER. When she’s releases, Tony takes her home where he stays to watch over her until the next morning. Kristine is shocked by Tony’s kindness. Could she have been wrong about him?
The passion between Tony and Kristine won’t be denied. Can Kristine overcome her doubts about Tony’s integrity when boss and mentor State Attorney, Harper Wells, will stop at nothing to get Tony disbarred. Can love, desire and honestly win out over greed, lust and deceitfulness?
IN HIS OWN DEFENSE is packed with a lot of goodies for the reader. Ann Jacobs is a gifted storyteller and you’ll be hooked from the beginning of this book. Be careful because IN HIS OWN DEFENSE is one mighty hot book, but if you’re into hot and like suspense thrown in you’ll discover a very satisfying book. I liked the characters and the strength of the storyline kept me involved until the end and yes, I would definitely recommend this book.
