Jayne Dawson’s first marriage lasted a short week. Her husband shot, she was left stranded in small town Midas. The kind sheriff took her to see her husband’s body left on outside of town. Rancher Ethan Trent felt badly for the widow, but he led his own life and needed no ties. It wasn’t until the murderer threatened Jayne that Ethan realized his interest in the woman had grown.
Jayne Dawson is a girl with grit. She was raised by a mother who told her to plan for a rainy day and be independent. She strives to meet that goal once she’s widowed. In a small town with trouble on her tail, it’s not proving to be easy.
Ethan Trent lost his family He didn’t deserve a second chance at life and love. Seclusion served his needs. Until God touched his heart and he saw the danger Jayne faced.
Jayne’s need for protection convinces Ethan to provide it. To shield her identity, they marry. A second marriage for both. A new set of life circumstances. Can love grow? Will old hurts tear them apart or allow them to heal in each other’s arms?
I enjoyed this book very much. It is well written with believable characters which charm you. The historical setting lends credence to a marriage of convenience. I hope Ms. Bylin has another story cooking.
