Jennifer Murray has chosen a secluded cabin to heal her emotional wounds. Why should her peace be shattered by the motorcycle rider next door? Mitch Waverly’s seclusion is for a different reason-his safety. Two singles by the lake in the woods. What will cause their lives to cross?
Jennifer, a social worker, is trying to restore herself after an incident in a battered women’s shelter causes her to shoot an intruder. Her gentle self has been assaulted. She needs to find peace. She grew up in a dysfunctional family and worked hard to build a stable life. It’s now rocky.
Mitch, an undercover policeman, won’t give his heart to anyone. There’s too much attached. Women want more than he is willing to give. This woman will need his protection.
Together in the woods, with Spooky the terrier, these two people learn to trust one another. Chance encounters? Not by any means. Fate and fairy dust enter when Mitch finds Jennifer in an online chat room, and she lets her guard down. Cracks in their hearts find healing when they reach out to one another. The victim of Jennifer’s shooting cries out for justice, and the drug dealers Mitch spies on want to deal it out.
Undercover Trouble is a good romantic read. Two strong-willed dynamic characters vie for attention, yet have an underlying vulnerability which makes the reader root for love. Carol McPhee
has a strong story with good dialogue and believable characters. Pull up
a chair, warm a cup of cocoa, and enjoy!
