Leah Ebersol has suffered so much for the sake of love and family. Years have gone by since her first love left for Ohio. Leah’s older sister, Sadie, has returned, and is trying to work through the harsh proving the strict bishop has put on her, while hoping to remain with her family after the tragic loss of her husband.
Leah’s younger sisters, Mary Ruth and Hannah, are married and have children of their own, while Leah is still struggling to raise her two younger siblings, Lydiann and Abe. When her father finds a new love, Leah wonders what is going to happen to her. And now, someone has returned to Lancaster County, looking for Leah . . . .
This fourth book in Abram’s Daughters Series is as heart wrenching as the earlier books in the series. I enjoyed getting reacquainted with the family and seeing how they have grown and changed over the years. I hoped that someone would come along and love Leah, in spite of the obligations she has toward her younger brother and sister. I cried as they struggled over an unexpected surprise which ended up hurting the family more than healing.
Pick up THE PRODIGAL today for an exciting page turner you won’t soon forget. Readers will want to read the first three books in the series before THE PRODIGAL as all events are tied together. They will also want to keep an eye out for the fifth and final book in the series The Revelation, due out in June 2005. The Abram’s Daughters Series are a set for the keeper shelf.
