“When you’re running from the past it always catches up with you.”
Adrian Gamble is on the run. After killing a man he must settle as far away as possible from his beloved mother and the rest of his family to keep them safe.
Adrian purchased the Heart of Silver Mining Company in Hartville, CO. The passing of Mr. Hart facilitates his widow selling his holdings, including the mine and the general store. Adrian wants to blend into his new surroundings. He has no compunction to stand out, but being the new handsome stranger in town brings the curious out. Including the single ladies of town. He is not going to be left alone.
The manager of the general store is a young widow Phoebe Williams who needs the job to support her. She’s unsure about the new owner. There’s so much mystery around him she doesn’t want to trust him, feels a little uneasy around him, and yet, begins to feel maybe God is drawing them together.
In the meantime, Hartville’s bitter town gossip stirs things up. And, the general store’s shadowy bookkeeping prevents a mystery concerning a maybe employee from being solved.
To tell more would give away too much. But, mostly it’s a sweet romance. As the story unfolds, we understand neither Phoebe nor Adrian is ready for a relationship. But, maybe God has other plans.
If you’re a fan of historical, prairie romance, or westerns, with well rounded characters and a strong plot, you’ve got to get a copy of Song of My Soul.
