Brienna Beaumont arrived at the Cameron ranch as an unwanted guest. Invited by Jed Cameron’s brother, Jed wanted her gone. Brie was a gold-digger after her part of Matt’s fortune, he was sure. Little did he know, his brother held no interest in Brie. After a time, Jed felt relief on that point. His heart was captured by her.
Brie’s decision to take a cruise after her conniving husband’s death to heal emotionally introduced her to Matt Cameron and his partner, Hank. She took along her sketch pad and found her artistic abilities begin to surface. The invitation to the Cameron ranch gave her a much needed artistic outlet. Jed fought against love after being hurt. His reaction to Brie angered him. Discovering she was talented and wealthy didn’t dissuade him from wanting her to leave his ranch. When Matt announced he was gay and didn’t have any feelings for Brie, Jed needed to assess his feelings.
Beaten down by a loveless marriage, physically scarred, and emotionally hurt, Brienna Beaumont is a fragile woman in need. Her fiery hair and green eyes add to her beauty and her sheer determination to not allow another man to tread upon her threatens her chances at love. Only when she trusts will she be able to give her heart fully.
Bitterness and rage fuel Jed Cameron. His mother left him and he accidentally caused his brother’s blindness. Two reasons for guilt to burden him. No woman would come between his love for his ranch and brother. But when Brie steps in to complement the situation, Jed has to discover what he really wants from life.
Carol McPhee’s descriptive voice lends much beauty to this story of two hurting hearts willing to take a risk. She weaves in sensual details which give the reader a taste of love without too much information. This is a romantic read.
