Adrian Templeton rushes to catch a London bus during a rainstorm. Ellen Gerber offers to share an umbrella. A chance encounter or a God appointment? Romance begins in strange ways.
Adrian, scarred physically, longs for love. His overbearing mother grates on his nerves. The jagged scar causes him to hide his face. Love in his condition? He was incapable of being loved.
Ellen Gerber realizes she is consumed with thoughts of a younger man. But a near fatal accident makes her realize life is too short to be caught up in appearances.
Ellen and Adriane and a supporting cast of characters, including Staci and Christopher, strive to find what people have always searched for. Love and happiness. Ellen’s faith carries her through a traumatic event. She reaches out to Adriane and her friends. Adriane’s past catches up with him, and he feels he needs to escape and sort out his life. Certainly, he’s not good enough for Ellen. And he isn’t certain he has faith. Only when his friend James relates the Gospel does Adriane realize the peace he desires is within his grasp. Then will love follow? Or will conventions keep Ellen and Adriane from happiness?
Karole Kennedy has woven a romantic tale of a May-December romance. However, the twist of an older woman with a younger man gives it a new flavor. Her unusual circumstances the characters must face also add a unique tension to the story. She has a good character driven book in Scars of the Heart
