PAPER MOON by Linda Windsor

Ever read a book where even weeks later you’re wondering what the main character is up to? And, then you feel silly, after all, she’s just a character in a book. Well, that is exactly the sort of book Paper Moon is. And, with author Linda Windsor’s skillful story telling, you know you won’t be disappointed.

Daycare owner Caroline Spencer signs on as a chaperone for her teen daughter’s school trip to Mexico. As a single mom Caroline’s hard working and very close to her daughter, Annie. Annie’s best friend Karen is going on the trip, too. At the last minute Karen’s father, Blair Madison, is called on to take the spot of her grandma who is injured.

Blair and Caroline are similar in more ways than they know: they’re both single parents, both love the thrill and thrive on the pressure of running their own businesses, and of course, both are with their girls in romantic Mexico.

It’s not long before Caroline and Blaine hit it off. It’s a little iffy at first, but we cheer for them. In the midst of their budding relationship, Annie and Karen are mortified at Caroline’s ‘juvenile’ behavior (not juvenile at all, but you know how teens are!). Once in Mexico the suspense begins.

At a teen club the American students meet up with Mexican students and have a blast. Karen and Annie are a little put off by the actions of some of the male students in their class...and they aren’t too fond of some of the rules.

In the meantime Blaine and Caroline are pulled together by the romance of the luminous moon, so clear in the Mexican night sky.

However, when Annie and Karen are kidnapped and Caroline and Blaine must come together to form a plan for their daughters freedom, the differences are clear. Blaine handles the situation with anger, Caroline turns to prayer.

It’s not long before we’re wondering if Caroline and Blaine will ever get together and if the girls will be rescued?

Suspense, romance, humor, and emotion, all fit together to bring us a delightful, enchanting and down right good read. Linda Windsor is a master at telling a story so the pages of the book seem to come alive. We walk with the characters, we cry with them, wince when they bump their heads, hope they kiss, pray they get free, and hope someone makes it to happily ever after.
I highly recommend PAPER MOON the first in the Moon Struck series.
