THE OCCASIONAL COOK CULINARY STRATEGIES FOR OVERCOMMITTED FAMILIES by Cyndy Salzmann

If you find yourself in the fast food drive through line, or on the phone ordering pizza, more times than you’d like because of time anemia, then this book is for you!

The author has carefully and with much thought, given the busy families of today a tool that will keep them around the dinner table and away from convenient dining which should be a boost to their budgets and family relations.

The slim paperback book is divided into three sections. Section 1: is Basic Training. Here you learn about food, the Occasional Cook System, Freezer Facts and Quick Tips. Section 2: Recipes to enjoy. Now that you have the basics down, you can use the system for everything from bread to marinade. This section is the meat (pun intended) of the book. Section 3: Boot Camp. Here Cyndy takes us through the whole routine, from planning a menu, making a grocery list and game plans for getting started.

The author does explain the first couple times you use the system you might be a little overwhelmed – it is an extensive system, but it does take you from start to finish and if used will provide your family with nutritious food, more time and possibly get mom help in the kitchen, too!

I wish this book had been out when my kids were younger. But, now that they’re married with kids of their own, I’ll be giving them a copy so they’ll have a supreme lead at the outset!

I’m impressed with Ms. Salzmann’s books. She has a common sense and spiritually filled approach that is refreshing and educational. Of course I highly recommend this book and as the holidays approach, let me suggest it for gift giving, too. This is truly one book that can be used by anybody.
