One
misty-gray dawn morning, Paul Finley slides into consciousness only to
discover
he's lost his memory after a Gestapo interrogation. While recovering,
hidden
away deep in the French countryside, a beautiful, golden-haired woman,
Gabrielle, tends to his every need. An
important secret is buried within Paul's mind and Gabrielle will do
whatever it
takes to restore his memory, from telling him about their life together
to
trying to remind his senses of their relationship in every possible
way.
Set during the final tempestuous days leading up to the Allied invasion
at
Normandy, Nights of Fire
is a
darkly sweet tale of a love affair in the midst of the horrors of war. Ms. Daniels manages to keep the focus on
Gabrielle and Paul, while still slipping in enough historical detail to
paint a
vivid picture of the last days of the Nazi occupation of France in 1944.
This story is a rich tapestry of love with
enough suspense to keep you on the edge of your chair, desperately
hoping that
Paul remembers everything in time. Ms.
Daniels entrance into the world of erotic romance is a memorable one. I’m hoping that she’ll revisit the people
introduced in Nights of Fire, especially Jean Deschamps, who
was a
vastly fascinating character in his own right, loyal to his cause yet
loving as
well.
