Her entire life had been
lived in her spoiled sister’s
shadow, forced to take her older sister’s punishments because her
parents were
blind to Maria’s faults. Now Melina was
fed up. There was no way that she was going to prison for what would be
the
rest of her life, just to keep her parents happy and Maria free. Nor had the family’s deceptions been
forgotten by one of Maria’s victims.
Luc Jardin made the
mistake of trusting Maria’s innocent
face once, he never would again. Now,
with the help of the twin’s brother, he kidnaps Melina.
He takes her to his ranch for a bit of
revenge and lesson giving. Only, he has
the wrong twin.
Lora Leigh’s latest seems to suffer in
comparison to her
other books. Luc comes across as
hardheaded, idiotic and blind to the things right in his face. Melina seems to be soft, easily dominated and
weak-willed. Neither makes for good
reading, despite the supposed attraction between them.
I was more interested in reading the few
appearances by the minor characters: Melina’s
brother, Joey and Luc’s friend, Jack. Both
were more entertaining then the primary
couple. Hopefully, we’ll see books
featuring them in the future.

What you see isn’t always what you get. That’s the situation in this enticing story based on the Aesop’s Fable, The Wolf and the Nurse. Maria Angeles pulled a fast one on Luc Jardin and his business partner, Jack Riley, that almost got them killed. Maria’s one hot number who performed mind-blowing oral sex on both Luc and Jack and promised more, just to get them to agree to her request. Luc hasn’t forgotten just how good she could perform. At the request of her brother Joey, Luc kidnaps Maria to keep her out of prison and help her stay clean. While she’s captive, Luc also plans to settle up with Maria on her promises and the betrayal. What will Luc do when he finds out he has the wrong woman?
Melina Catarina Angeles has been used and mistreated by her twin, Maria. Melina and Maria are polar opposites. Maria is a drug abusing, selfish, terrible person. Melina has paid for Maria’s many sins including jail time and almost dying. After being disowned by her parents for refusing to serve prison time for Maria, Melina is chloroformed and taken against her will. When she wakes up from the chloroform, Melina realizes she been kidnapped by Luc Jardin, the man her sister betrayed. Melina met Luc once while pretending to be Maria and she’s secretly fantasized about him ever since.
COWBOY AND THE CAPTIVE is full of suspense, romance, hot sensual sex, a hero to die for and a heroine you will adore. With the exception of Maria and Bertha, the secondary characters are equally endearing. Sam and Heather August from HEATHER’S GIFT and AUGUST HEAT make an appearance and readers find they are still together and going strong.
In my opinion, Lora Leigh is without equal in the erotic genre. She creates stories that captivate the reader and keep them coming back for more. I never miss her contemporaries. According to Ms. Leigh, the next book in this series is Jack’s story, COWBOY AND THE THIEF, which will feature another August couple. Then she'll give us Joey’s story. I highly recommend anything by Ms. Leigh; her stories are so hot, you’ll need to find something to cool you off. Do I recommend COWBOY AND THE CAPTIVE? You bet I do!
