| The Playboy and the
Teacher................ Chicago
Detective Aleksy Denko comes to Eden to find the people who killed his partner and all the
leads point to someone in the small-town where his brother is the Chief of Police.
Alesky has never asked a woman for help or given a woman anything but a few hours of
pleasure, but he needs Faye Harper, professionally and personally. He asks Faye to
pretend they are lovers while he is working undercover to catch a killer. Faye came
to Eden from Chicago to getaway for the summer to regroup and to find peace after she
was hurt by an angry father of one of her students. She doesn't want to be involved
in the undercover scheme, or with Aleksy. But the charming, compelling and gorgeous
Detective wears down her defenses and she agrees to let him move in with her. But
being with Aleksy day after day, night after night, Faye knows it's only a matter of time
before she gives into the attraction she feels for him. Faye and Aleksy work on
keeping their charade from becoming the real thing, while one of Faye's students arrives
in Eden needing her help and she and Aleksy work together to help him fight his own
demons. Aleksy gets closer to finding the killer and vows to protect Faye
when the killer gets closer to her. Faye knows Aleksy won't stay in Eden with her
and Aleksy knows he will protect Faye from anything, even himself.
ALL A MAN CAN ASK brings readers back
to Eden and to familiar characters and the family bonds that are stronger than ever.
Watching playboy Aleksy meet his match with prim-and-proper schoolteacher, Faye is
touching, comical and memorable. I found that the romance played a stronger part in
this story than that of the suspense, but that doesn't take away the excitement or danger
of the story. I liked watching Aleksy fall for a lady more than I wanted to see him
running around with guns blazing. After meeting Aleksy in Book One of this
series, ALL A MAN CAN DO, I enjoyed his humor along with his charm, and couldn't wait to
meet the lady that would tame him. An excellent story of steamy romance, suspense
and charismatic characters. I didn't want the story to end.
Be on the lookout in April 2003, when
Virginia Kantra continues The Trouble in Eden series with ALL A MAN CAN BE. We
finally learn more about Tess DeLucca's secretive, sexy and intriguing brother,
Mark. I personally can't wait!!
