ALIEN ENCOUNTERS by Ashley Ladd, Joy Nash, Dominique Tomas and Jane Toombs

Stolen Brides - Ashley Ladd

Katrina (Kat) Craven is the youngest female pilot that Boeing ever had.  Her head stewardess said their passengers were disappearing,so she started back to see for herself and a Viking of a man pushed through the door.  Before she could act she felt an iron rod pinch her neck then she was sucked into a vortex.

Prince Davek had conducted the raid.  His job was to go back in time and save women of childbearing years before they were destined to die.  His planet, Antara had gone through a plague that had sterilized all the females and their planet was slowly dying.  They had tried to find mates with the Omagagis, but they only wanted their planet.  Davek is drawn to Katrina, but she is not the submissive, docile mate his planet is used to.

Stolen Brides is a story about  a bold, independent woman that might just be what the Prince needs as well as the planet.  Katrina and Davek are well crafted characters that slowly open themselves to each other.  A good addition to this anthology.

Dream Guardian - Joy Nash

Julia (Jewel) Maria Borelli is training to be an opera singer.  Her new neighbor is driving her crazy with his loud playing of Yoko Ono.  Going upstairs to demand that he lower the volume, she is surprised to meet Darius, a beautiful hunk of man.  He tells her that he is from outer space.  She doesn't believe him, but she can't explain why she feels his emotions.  He is impressed that she is the singer of stories.

Dar had finally found his singer, his Dream Guardian - the one woman who cam tame the dark demons of his soul.   His planet had been destroyed, his parents and sister killed and he and his brother had been captured by Mardulan warriors, who were a group of women warriors who kept men as sex slaves.  There were made to wear collars that inflicted pain if they tried to escape.  Finally his brother came up with a plan and they made their escape, only to be separated.  It had been a year since he had heard from his brother.  Will Jewel become Dar's dream guardian?  Will Dar ever find his brother?

I really enjoyed this tale.  You can feel the pain Dar had gone through to come this far and only Jewel can save him the rest of the way.  I enjoyed the ending.  I will be looking for more novels by Ms. Nash.

Some Assembly Required - Dominique Tomas

Rahzel has been alone since she was taken from her mother's bunker,  that is except for the man in her dreams. She had been removed to be trained as mind-driver.  She stayed in her chambers and through her mind link she used her mind to control, protect and purify the planet.  It was just so hard for her to believe that all that was left on Earth was just their dust, hazy compound.  She wanted to see the blue sky and feel the emotions of making love.  The voice in her head keeps promising a whole world outside the domes.  Can she leave all she knows for the unknown?

Ms Tomas has given us a look at what the future could become.  A great fantasy for this group of stories.

The Loveland Curse - Jane Toombs

Loveland is a town with secrets.  It does not welcome strangers.  Zenna Ruthven had come to Loveland with her father twenty years ago.  At least at Loveland no one thought it strange about her change.  She was still a virgin and had given up on finding anyone like her, but that was before she met Curtis.  Would he understand?  Or would she always be lonely?

I think this one is my favorite.  You can feel the loneliness of both Zenna and Curtis have of being different. Who knows maybe there is a town out there that accepts people strangeness and all?
