Bailey
Weggins is back to solve yet another murder mystery! This time around also, she doesnt
go looking for trouble, but as usual, trouble happens wherever Bailey is.
At
the end of the first Bailey Weggins mystery, we left the true crime storywriter terribly
shaken as she narrowly escapes becoming a murder victim herself. Tired and badly in need
of some rest and relaxation, Bailey jumps at the offer when an old family friend Danielle
invites her down for the weekend at her inn/spa. The gracious old inn seems like a virtual
Shangri-la, and the special late night massage in the Asian-inspired spa is a welcome
therapeutic relief after the long drive-up. Until Bailey goes in search of the watch she
left behind and literally stumbles across a body wrapped up like an Egyptian mummy! And
all this before shes even been there at the inn for six hours!
Getting
help from her numerous sources as well by using her reporter instincts to the utmost use
by putting together clues and spotting patterns which everyone else overlooks, Bailey is
hot on the chase. None of the employees are pleased at her probing questions and she soon
begins to get the feeling that theyre all hiding something. What could it be?
Meanwhile, guests are checking out in droves, Danielles in trouble, Bailey gets the
feeling that someones watching her and there are more than enough suspects and even
greater motives.
Baileys
love life is equally complicated. Shes still smarting from the breakup with the sexy
psychology professor she fell for in the first book. At the same time, the hot detective
assigned to the case sets her pulse soaring. Is she on the rebound or is this serious?
Meanwhile
Baileys rambling detecting is playing off and someones getting pretty antsy.
Can Bailey solve the case before she ends up as a dead mummy?!
Author
Kate White wowed the readers when she first introduced the character of Bailey Weggins in
sophisticated murder mystery, If Looks Could Kill. This time around,
Bailey leaves behind the skyscraper city of New York for the foliage of rural
Massachusetts and in the process again falls headlong into a case. In this book, Bailey
explores the world of exotic spa treatments as well as darker side of massage. Murder most
intriguing forms the focal point of the entire story and the bumbling way Bailey goes
about solving it is very authentic for an amateur detective story. There are many
suspects, myriad motives and countless skeletons in closets and so, to guess as to the
true identity of the perpetrator, is next to impossible. Even the ending comes as a
complete and shocking revelation! While not exactly in the Holmes or Plum league, Bailey
Weggins is surely and slowly following in their footsteps and greater things can be
expected of her. Kate White has done a thorough job of filling this latest book of hers
full of contrasts that makes it difficult to categorize it. But one thing is clear - the
book and Bailey are thoroughly entertaining!
