November 1, 2022 Special political assistant to Chicago’s’ mayor, Graham Peck lives in a world gone mad. After the unexplained disappearance of millions, life as the world once knew it is gone. In its place is a world torn and rift with terrorist attacks, killings, and lawlessness. In an attempt to regain control a police state is put in place. No-one is free from nanotechnology and constant surveillance. All citizens fear for their lives, either from out of control criminals or from those who presume to be ‘in charge.” Graham struggles to find a balance while protecting his family and working at his government job.
The typical Peck family has two young sons, George and Jeff, who want someone to answer their questions – why did all those people disappear? Where did they go? And, when their grandmother, Maria, tries to explain it as a religious event, something she’d heard about when she was younger, the boys’ mother and Graham’s wife, Jackie, instantly stops the discussion. Religion, as far as she is concerned, is at the very least, unreliable thing a person could turn to. Science, she is sure, will eventually explain everything.
In the meantime, world events escalate and a world leader is set to take the stage. Graham learns he will be involved in this step, and he is not comfortable. When Matt Peck, their son returns from college with members of a group called, New Seekers, the Pecks are intrigued by truths the groups gleans from an ancient book. Everything that has happened is explained in this book, but they can’t be sure this group are truth bearers and not a dangerous cult that will lead them to catastrophe.
Then an event occurs that rocks the already shaking foundation of the Peck family and they begin a thrilling adventure that will either free them or be the cause of their demise. It becomes a race against time, circumstance, and man.
WIRED is similar to the best selling Left Behind Series (Tyndale Books). Today’s world situation makes the events in this story not difficult to believe. Mr. Wise, the author, writes a compelling fast paced story that leaves us a little fearful and at the same time, hopeful because God is in the details. Especially in the Tribulation – the seven year period of judgment when unbelievers will be punished and sinners will be purged from the earth. All in preparation of Christ’s return.
