WEDDING OF THE CENTURY by Patricia McLinn

Annette Trevetti returned to Tobias, Wisconsin to help her brother Max with his business after he broke his wrist and his secretary is out of town.  Seven years ago Annette left her true love, Steve Corbett at the altar when another woman interrupted their wedding claiming she was pregnant with Steve’s child.  Annette walked out of the church that day leaving Steve, her rings and all her young girl dreams behind.  For years Annette had only returned to Tobias to see her brother Max for short holidays  but this stay will be longer.   Annette is convinced that she is over Steve, the pain of the past and that she can handle whatever comes her way.  After all, she is a successful businesswoman now who deals with tough situations everyday.

But Annette isn’t fully prepared when she sees Steve for the first time or for him seemingly always being in the same places she is.  Annette isn’t sure how to handle the blazing attraction and the sizzle that she still feels whenever she is around Steve nor does she know how to handle Nell Corbett, Steve’s daughter who worms her way into Annette’s heart.  Annette’s trip home suddenly becomes very complicated for her, especially when she begins to feel very comfortable in the small town that she swore she would never call home again.

This story is enchanting, heartwarming and delightful.  Patricia McLinn is a powerful author who provides her readers with a fairy-tale romance with a love that is stronger than ever, and that is for better or for worse even years later.  Of course, the road to a happily ever after is never easy but Ms. McLinn takes us on a heart-stopping and soul-searching journey with two splendid and strong characters who never forgot one another or the love that they shared.

This story hooks readers on a journey of betrayals, shattered dreams, unrequited love and desire and readers won’t be able to help rooting for Steve and Annette to have their own happily ever after, or for the fate of some of Tobias’ citizens that the reader can’t help but care for.  Ms. McLinn provides a heroine who feels older than her years.  Annette grew up faster than she would have liked when she was younger, but we see Annette grow even more in this story through much soul-searching, tears, strength, a very compelling, strong and compassionate hero and even the adoration in a young girls eyes fill Annette with emotions she has never felt before.  The citizens of Tobias are equally charming and are an added delight to the story.  The readers will be hoping for future visits to this small town and some happily ever after’s for some friends and family of Annette and Steve’s.

Patricia McLinn is a master with everything story she writes.  She writes with class, compassion,  intense emotions and a magic for storytelling.  Her readers are drawn into her stories, feeling what the characters are feeling and are never disappointed at the end.  Readers will enjoy their time in Tobias and will be eager for more of it charming characters in the future.  Ms. McLinn leaves readers breathless and enchanted with this brilliant masterpiece of Cinderella, Prince Charming and timeless love.

Watch for Annette’s brother Max to meet his match in THE UNEXPECTED WEDDING GUEST from Silhouette Special Edition #1541 in May 2003.
