In Unraveled, the third in CJ Barrys UN
series, we are once again with a very strong heroine.
Tru Van Dye was born and raised in the colony of Majj scientists. Her father was one of the Administrators for the
Majj and True helped him extensively while she was growing up. She needs to get her charter by her 30th birthday
and she knows exactly whats she going to do to get it. Becoming one of the Majj means everything to Tru. Shes been working on a theory lately and if
it works out as she plans, she will bring the Curzon Collection to the Majj. This will definitely get her the charter she
covets.
Rayce Coburne hates the Majj. He holds them responsible for the death of his
sister. They held the cure for the disease
she died of, but since his family couldnt come up with the Majjs price,
Miranda died. And died horribly. When Tru approaches him with her quest, Rayces
first impulse is to turn her down flat. His
partner, Gil, wont allow that. In order
to get his space station up and running, they need the money shes offering. And so the quest begins.
Tru cant understand why Rayce
hates the Majj. Tru was raised to believe the
Majj do only good for humankind. Shes
not aware of the Administrators policy of selling the inventions to the highest
bidder. Trus quest for the Curzon
Collection ends up becoming a journey of self discovery as she begins to question the
beliefs she grew up with. Rayce begins
questioning everything as well as he learns more about Tru and discovers the person she is
inside. The two of them are definitely
attracted to each other and have to work to fight the attraction.
CJ Barry just keeps on getting better
and better with each of her new books. In
this one, we have an acquisitions collector thats trying to get out of
the business and ends up getting pulled back in. I
really loved the way the two of them end up going to all kinds of different planets, even
ending up getting shot at on Earth. Underneath
all the adventure, this is really a story of love. I
feel its stated best during a conversation Rayce has with his father. Rayces father tells him Because shes
going to be the woman who makes you face and conquer your biggest fear, which is
exactly what happens. I really love the way
the book ended as well, right down to Elvis the dog and his happy ending. I definitely recommend this series to all lovers
of futuristic romance.
