TYING THE KNOT is a
delightful modern day story set on the shores of Lake Superior, in Deep Haven, Minnesota.
EMT Anne Lundstrom
grew up in Minneapolis inner-city, and is familiar with the attitude of the areas
residents. While responding to an emergency involving a woman having a heart attack, she
picks up on the signals, sent by a male Native American, not to approach the bed.
Desperate to give the woman the help she needs, Anne plunges ahead and is shot by a
drug-crazed gang member. As she drifts into unconsciousness, she is only aware of one
thing. Someone is holding her hand and singing to her. After months of therapy, Anne
requests a transfer to Deep Haven, hoping to heal emotionally while there. Her request
approved, Anne moves there to finish her nursing internship.
Noah Standing Bear
is a former gun toting gang member. Now hes a youth pastor in the inner city, the
same area where Anne grew up. Haunted by an EMT shot down in the line of duty, he hopes if
he gets the kids out of the inner-city and into a wilderness setting, they will turn their
lives around and leave the gangs. Raising support is not easy though. After a long
discussion the churches finally agree to support his ministry if, and only if, he hires a
nurse to live at the camp.
When Annes
car breaks down on a deserted highway, Noah comes to her rescue. Even though Anne is
frightened by his gang member appearance, she tells him shes interning at the local
hospital. Seeing an opportunity, Noah approaches her boss and requests that Anne be
assigned to work at his camp. Will Anne desert the camp when she discovers the campers are
inner-city kids? Will Noahs dream die? Who is mugging the area nurses and stealing
drugs?
Susan May Warren
has penned a wonderful story set on the shores of Lake Superior. The second in the series,
TYING THE KNOT easily stands alone. The reader is quickly caught up in the plot and will
live through each of the well-developed characters. Noah is so real the reader will be
able to feel his pain, yet be able to identify strongly with Anne when they understand her
motives.
I could vividly
envision the idyllic town of Deep Haven. The reader will love the location so much theyll
want to go there and visit some of the areas described in the book. I was so caught up in
TYING THE KNOT, I couldnt turn the pages quickly enough. This is a wonderful
hope-filled story with tons of adventure. Definitely a book for the keeper shelf. Pick it
up today! $9.99. 316 pages.
