Cassandra Smith is
free. She's now a college student and away from her parent’s Christian
direction. Cassandra ignores childhood training and little by little
gives into temptations. It’s not that God isn’t prompting her to stop;
it’s that Cassandra has turned out the receiver. Then she falls in love
with Mac Lugot, a non-believer. Cassandra knows what the Bible says
about being unequally yoked, but she is in love. During a family
function Mac accepts Christ. Seeing the changes in Mac opens Cassandra’s
eyes and heart. She realizes her childhood religion is nothing like a
personal relationship with Christ
and she too gives her life to the Lord. Together the couple seeks to
serve the Lord -- until a trial comes along that could separate them
forever. Trials of Faith takes real people through real trials and shows
us how God has a hand in all of our lives.
New author Crystal Ratcliff writes a compelling story in Trials of
Faith. Many young adults will identify with Cassandra and Mac and their
struggles. However, like most Publish America Books I’ve read there are
editing problems and sudden point of view shifts which are confusing to
the reader. The book would do well in church libraries or the
collection of youth leaders. I visited the author’s web-site after
writing the review and noted good news from the author. The sequel to
this book, The Trials of Love will be published by Treble Heart books,
soon. This is important because we get more insight to Cassandra and
Mac’s new life as they seek to serve the Lord.
