Lady
Annabelle Wylde has finally agreed to wed. Giving
into her fathers urging, Annabelle agrees to marry Miles Croft, a complete stranger. Annabelle is looking forward to the freedom that
being married will allow her. But she didnt
think of the wifely duties of marriage that she would have to fulfill. Her wedding night is far from enjoyable for her
and the awkwardness between her and her husband is worse than ever. On their honeymoon, Annabelle comes close to
death. Annabelle develops the horrible
influenza that robs her of her beauty and she is completely shattered, losing her
self-worth and confidence.
Annabelle
finally recovers enough to assist Miles to prepare his sister for her debut in London
society. Annabelle also has to face the ton,
that once considered her a striking beauty, for the first time since she became ill.
Though
they both had ulterior motives for marrying, Annabelle and Miles come together to become
friends, discovering each other and falling in love with who they are, rather than their
status in society. They form a bond on a deep
emotional level.
Has
Annabelle finally found the love of her life that she has so longed for?
It
was wonderful spending time with an Edith Layton romance again. This is an entertaining and emotional tale with
compelling and passionate characters.
Edith
Layton writes eloquently about a womans inner beauty -- it was heart-wrenching, yet
poignant to watch Annabelle find her strength and courage and find herself again.
This
tale by Ms. Layton was sensational. Be sure
to have lots of time on your hands because you will want to red it in one sitting. OH, and be sure to have at least ONE box of
tissues nearby....you will need them!
