It was the hottest spot in London on the coldest night
of the year. A Regency, TO TEMPT A BRIDE takes readers on visits to some of the
wealthiest homes for balls and visits. Carriage rides through the park. Walks through the
bustling downtown. Its all here in TO TEMPT A BRIDE.
Eric Ford feels
miserable. He has just returned to England after a long bout with malaria. Now hes
promised two dances to his best friends sister, but he doesnt feel well enough
to fulfill his obligation. He excuses himself from his host and since his home is only two
streets away, he decides to walk. His walk takes him through a bad neighborhood and he is
approached by prostitutes at every turn. Finally a man knocks Eric out cold and steals his
wallet, running away and leaving him for dead. Luckily, his friends followed him and were
able to take him home and get medical attention for him.
Camille Pelham has
loved Eric forever. But he sees her as only his friends sister. Now that Cammie is
finally old enough to attend balls in London, she is determined that Eric will notice her
this year, or she will die in the attempt. She doesnt count on Eric saving a
helpless girl from the country, one who might steal him away from her!
Nell Baynes is
kidnapped when she arrives in London. She has hopes of finding her relatives now that her
mother is sick. But her kidnappers have forced her into prostitution. When the robber
steals Erics wallet, Nell manages to escape from her kidnapper. She claims Eric is
her hero. Camilles family takes her in while they look for her family.
Will Nell find her
family? Who will Eric choose to love? Camille? Or Nell?
Ms. Layton is an
award winning author with over twenty-five titles to her credit. Her characters are
well-developed. I especially loved Eric who was a gentleman through and through even when
some of the women he was with are less than ladies. Camille is quite realistic as a
tom-boy. She finds it hard to adjust to the ways of the ton. Nell is hurting, her mother
is dying and when she tries to find help she runs into one hardship after another.
TO TEMPT A BRIDE
has a few point of view errors but for the most part it is well-written. Regency fans will
be sure to enjoy TO TEMPT A BRIDE. Pick it up today! Its the perfect book to tuck
into your tote or purse to read while you wait in the long lines at the store or bank.
