Lucinda
Hollanders family thinks she is somewhat of a ditz.
And truth to tell, she is somewhat ditzy and having dyslexia doesnt help
either. She has been dating Archie for
six months not that she particularly likes him but he does seem to like her and
that, in her book, is a big plus. But when he
runs to her at the party and shoves an obnoxious looking ring on her finger and wants her
to agree to marry him, she doesnt quite know what to do. Then the police arrive to arrest her for murder. What? It
must have something to do with the disappearing Archie and the ugly ring on her finger. She is unable to get the ring off even using
Crisco. What is a girl to do? She runs away
and goes to her best friend for help.
Phoebe
runs a small housekeeping business and in order to save her friend, she gives Lucy a
temporary job -- she will be a housekeeper for a wealthy woman in the state of Kentucky. Never mind that she knows nothing about being a
housekeeper. When Lucy arrives for
work, she is flabbergasted to see the huge mansion. She
meets the nanny, Rosemary, and the handsome man that takes care of the cars. Wow, she is blown away when she sees him; and Max,
who has sworn off women, cannot keep his eyes in his head when he spots the beautiful
Lucy. It seems that this four-month job
is going to be an interesting one!!
A
secondary romance develops between the sweet Rosemary and Nathaniel Finn, also called the
Bad Boy of the Thoroughbred Racing Set, when he makes a bet with a friend that he can get
Rosemary into the bedroom within one month. He
thinks he is so hot that he wont have any trouble at all with the nun-like Rosemary. He and Rosemary are both in for a surprise.
Elizabeth
Bevarly has her own unique voice as she combines romance and comedy in THE RING ON HER
FINGER. There are some laugh-out-loud
situations that are reminiscent of some of Julie Roberts movies. Lucy cant seem to do anything right,
has no confidence in herself at all and frequently gets caught in some funny plights. There are many double entendres as Lucy and Max
fight the attraction between them and the romance between Nathaniel and Rosemary is every
bit as good, albeit more serious. Along with
the laughs is the serious problem of dyslexia and just how debilitating it can be,
especially when not treated. The
mystery of the ring is finally solved as well as the murder but it is secondary to the
romances in THE RING ON HER FINGER. If
you like a little comedy with your romance, you are sure to enjoy Ms Bevarlys latest
offering.
