Is it possible that after just a few moments of
meeting, and after barely
a few words spoken, to know one's
destiny? Lincoln Burnett, the viscount Cambury, knew right away that he must have Melissa
MacGregor as his bride. She stole his heart in those few moments.
Melissa was about to spend the season in London with hopes of being affianced. But before
her trip, she met Lincoln, and now knew that the trip to London would be all but a waste
of time. No man would be as tall, as friendly or as humorous as Lincoln. Would they see
each other again? Would these two hearts ever have a chance to become one?
What obstacles must Melissa and Lincoln face in their journey to love? Well, for starters
there are Melissa's sixteen uncles. Yes, sixteen! Prior to now, they have scared every
suitor away from Melissa.
You know, when I read that Melissa has sixteen uncles, six of them named Ian, I thought it
would just be a passing thought. But to read the various situations where these men keep
appearing in the story, was absolutely hilarious!
From moments of sadness when you are left wondering if Lincoln's relationship with his
mother will ever be restored, to moments of laughter when reading about the uncles'
interference's, I was extremely pleased. The love between Lincoln and Melissa was very
strong. Lincoln's strength and determination was exceptional. Melissa was a strong,
stubborn girl. She set her heart on Lincoln, and nothing, absolutely nothing, was going to
change her mind.
Ms. Lindsey is, as her sales have proved, a remarkable writer. My only sadness in reading
THE PURSUIT is the fact that I haven't yet read LOVE ME FOREVER, which is the story of
Melissa's parents. I must have two dozen of Ms. Lindsey's books in my collection, and it
is space well-used.
