| This historical romance, set in 1817, and written by
Lois Greiman is aptly named THE PRINCESS AND HER PIRATE.
The Princess of Sedonia, Tatiana, is intent on discovering for herself if the Laird
of Teleere will make an excellent husband but after a sea voyage that has churned her
stomach, she lands in Teleere with a single bodyguard. Seasick, she orders him to find the
abbey where she is expected and her adventure begins. Cairn
MacTavish, the Laird of Teleere, is a pirate not a diplomat, and he makes this abundantly
clear to Tatiana who he mistakes for someone else and accuses her of being a thief and
imprisons her for stealing his brooch. He has
his own internal devils to deal with and the battle with the 'thief' becomes a battle of
wits.
THE PRINCESS AND HER PIRATE is a Cinderella story in reverse -
instead of a commoner becoming a princess, Tatiana ranks lower than a thief and is accused
and tried for a crime she didn't commit. During her adventure, she learns that her
subjects and the common people of Teleere do not live easy lives and that danger and
deceit are the order of the day.
Ms. Greiman writes a spirited tale of a high-born woman who must
fend for herself when it comes to a low-born pirate who inexorably falls in love with her,
as she does with him. It is a story of love
earned and lost and regained although it is not a typical Regency tale set in stuffy
drawing rooms. Rather, the reader will often
see the high-born princess unclothed and fighting for her life and honor in dungeon and
among people she normally wouldn't have associated with.
If you would like a fast-paced read about a princess who doesn't act like one and
fuses her heart to a rogue pirate's, THE PRINCESS AND HER PIRATE is a terrific tale and a
must read.
