Juliet Bridger was a very famous
woman, for not only was she the NYT best-selling author of the immensely popular Jayne
Mansfield-Smyth mystery series, but she had also starred in the Slash McCall horror
flicks, and was the inspiration for the highly popular and addictive Amazonia 2807
video games and TV series which had been developed by her billionaire ex-husband -- who
was currently incarcerated for corporate corruption. But at heart, this rich, jet setting
socialite still remains a simple, small-town girl who preferred her dads potato
salad to the finest caviar, and the old pink Mustang to her custom-made Lamborghini. But
one day, tired of gossip rags writing nonsense about her, a little scared by her
ex-husbands continuous threatening phone calls, and exhausted with the artificiality
of her current luxurious lifestyle, Juliet jumps into her Mustang and takes off into the
night, on a quest to re-discover herself as well as happiness. And in the small town of
Plentiful, Wyoming, she meets Cole Sheridan, a vet with a unique problem.
Finding a nanny to take care of his five girls is
not an easy task, as Cole has come to know through bitter experience. With a malpractice
suit hanging over his head like Damocles sword and the threat of his bohemian
parents (and their hippy friends) converging on his home with every intention of taking
away his girls, the last thing this harried vet needs is a curvaceous beauty messing up
his life. But somehow, Juliet is soon established in his home, and in Plentiful, as if she
was made for it. She wants to improve him and he wants to bed her. Throw
some meddlesome children into this mix, add some geriatric sleuths, a python or two, a
spying photographer and a villain and the readers are set for one more hilarious
romantic romp set in the ever-interesting town of Plentiful!
Patti Berg has set yet another romantic comedy in
the small of town of Plentiful, Wyoming. This town has seen its share of bizarre incidents
and this book has the famous mystery writer, Juliet Bridger, finding her way there. She is
the typical rich woman with a loving heart. He is the hard-working doctor with a passel of
children clinging to him. This was a situation made for romance and when it takes place in
Plentiful, some sort of suspense is just guaranteed. Misunderstandings abound, not just
between the main protagonists, but various other side characters as well. There are plenty
of side characters in this book, including the town residents as well as the children, who
could have been a bit more detailed and more well-rounded, but this has not happened. The
story remains light and fluffy, lacking the depth, emotional intensity, and the thrill of
some of Patti Bergs previous books, even though it ultimately entertains.
