From Valerie Frankel, the acclaimed author of Smart
vs. Pretty comes a saucy and sassy commentary on love, life and the importance
of sex!
Stacy Temple is busy working at the pre-IPO Thong.com, an internet
lingerie company. The pay is good, the perks are all in the mythical stock options, and
this is before the dot com bust. One day, while talking to her best not-gay friend
Charlie, this sexy, smart and personable thirty-plus year old discovers that its
been one week shy of a year since she last had any nookie! Horrified at the idea that she
would accidentally become re-virginized if she didnt get
laid before the crucial week is up, Stacy dusts off her flirting skills and begins her
desperate and extensive seduction attempts. What follows is a weeks worth of
humorous, peculiar, pathetic and overall greatly entertaining series of dates which keep
ending in a variety of disasters.
Stacys trials and tribulations as she dates and smooches (not
always) her way through a multitude of males, are simultaneously comical and cynical.
Whether its the hirsute guy or her bosss young son, the fat guy from the
online dating company or the professional gigolo
many catch Stacys eye but
always her luck deserts her at the crucial amatory moment! At the same time, Stacys
trying to convince herself that her current job is worth suffering the debasement meted
out to her almost constantly by her overwhelming boss Fiona, being financially fruitful if
not creatively. But with dwindling clientele and capital, will her dreams of financial
independence when Thong.com goes IPO (which appears farther and farther as time
progresses), go down the drain, the way her de-re-virginization attempts appear to be
going? Read this laugh-out-loud sex comedy and discover the truth!
Valerie Frankel is an author who not only writes humorously, but also
her style of writing is sparkling fresh and very charming. Countless chick-lit books have
tried to exploit the same theme, but Ms. Frankels book The Accidental
Virgin has something more. The author has achieved her goal of making this book
very sexually forward without being vulgar, and made it humorous without being raunchy.
The sophisticated tone of the book and the literate use of words and expressions make this
book a total delight to read and neatly showcases the accomplished writing skill of this
up and coming author! Sex is, of course, the main goal of the determined heroine Stacy,
but as to whom, if any, shell ultimately end up with
..well, thats the
suspense! This delightfully self-mocking book takes female emancipation to new heights and
clearly delineates the changing sexual trends, and illustrates both its pros and cons.
To sum up, The Accidental Virgin is charming,
sexy, and way too much fun!
