For two and a half years, Captain Tamia Kuan has wanted out of hell. Hell being the 103rd MAFT Division flying Tanks. She was a marine after all; she was supposed to be on the ground, not a flight commander. Tamia had made it no secret that she wanted to transfer to Special Forces, but that seemed just a wishful dream. It’s funny how her dream coincided with another fantasy, Richard Carinson. Commander Carinson, currently leader of the elite Special Forces known as the Commandos, had rescued her during the Divide War. She’d taken one look at his grease-painted face and cobalt blue eyes and fell in over her head. From then on, he’d become an obsession. Following his military career, attending the same functions just to catch a glimpse of him, and bribing a friend for his IA file, were just a few of the things she did as her obsession went from lust to tenderness and understanding. What she learned about Rick, the man, verses Richard, the military machine, only made him all the more the perfect man of her fantasies.
Commander Richard Carinson had a glorious military career. But during his tour as a Navy SEAL, he had become disillusioned with the military policies and with his unwitting penchant for sending troops on missions that never came back. He retired from active duty after the Divide and formed the Commandos, a very covert, very elite group that operated very outside military channels. Now, he was looking for a weapons expert, and Captain Tamia Kuan fit the bill perfectly.
One dream down, one to go; Tamia had been asked to join the Commandos. However, even military protocol couldn’t squelch her desire for Rick, especially now that she was working with him on a daily basis. But Tamia is determined to become a cohesive member of the Commandos, so her lustful feelings get put on the back burner. The current Commando mission is to find a mole in the military arena. Weapon shipments have gone missing and there are fears of another war. As the Commando team works to oust the mole, and the mission intensifies, so does Rick and Tamia’s attraction. Trying to control themselves and complete the mission are near impossible.
Blackmail, secrets, hot stolen kisses, and intense action are all integral to Esther Mitchell’s TAMIA. Tamia is a kick-ass heroine with lots of heart. The sexual tension between Rick and Tamia is so thick you can cut it with a knife. As secondary characters, the remaining members of the Commando unit add humor and roundness to the story. Esther Mitchell has done a fantastic job of researching, and it shows in her writing a believable futuristic story that readers can identify with. I’m excited to see this is the first of many books in Ms. Mitchell’s Underground series.
Are you hungry for suspense, action, and passion? TAMIA is sure to wet your appetite! But don’t forget to leave room for seconds, with future Underground books yet to come.
